Diode
Radar Tube
The Federal 15R vacuum tube was first produced in 1940.
It was used in the ASB-5 radar display unit. The ASB-5
was part of an airborne radar set used during World War
II. The 15R is a high-voltage vacuum diode with a
thoriated tungsten filament. These are new old stock
manufactured on December 8th, 1943 and are in their
original boxes. The tubes are in perfect shape.
Some 15R tubes were manufactured with uranium glass
(vaseline glass) seals. Uranium glass glows under UV
light.
