Beam Power Pentode
The Matsushita S2001A Vacuum tube is a power output tube.
These are famous tubes for Yaesu transmitters. The 6146B
is also called a S2001A.
IT is NOT!
I repeat . . .
IT is NOT the same as a S2001. A 6146B is the
same as a S2001A tube. Not a S2001. There is a
major difference. Smile!
The S2001A is a small, sturdy, glass-octal
heater cathode type used as an AF power amplifier and
modulator and as an Rf power amplifer and oscillator. It
may be used with full input up to 60 MHz and with
reduced input up to 175 MHz. Class C telegraphy maximum
plate dissipation, CCS 30 Wattts, ICAS 35 Watts.
The S2001A tube CANNOT be interchanged with
S2001, 6146,
6146A or 8298 tubes. Trust me on this one.
The S2001, 6146, 6146A and 8298 tubes have different
bias requirements, inter electrode capacitances and
etc.
Matsushita S2001A vacuum tubes are used in Yaesu radios.
